Warming winter apple smoothie

At this time of year, we are craving hot, comforting drinks to keep us cosy and see us through the long winter days. But we are also craving our daily hit of vitamins to boost our immune system and keep colds at bay.

So what better way to combine the two than with a warming winter smoothie. When we stumbled over this recipe we had to try it immediately. And we weren’t disappointed. Try this recipe today and thank us later.

Not only are apples low in calories, but they are also a good source of vitamin C to boost the immune system, and dietary fibre which improves digestive health, contributes to heart health and can help with weight management. The ginger is also a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory which has many health benefits, including enhancing the immune system, which can be very beneficial at this time of year.

 

Ingredients:

3 apples, roughly chopped

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

½ tsp ground cinnamon

1 cup water

1cm ginger, grated

 

Method:

Now here’s the easy bit. Put all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a saucepan and gently heat until it is almost about to simmer. Pour into a mug, garnish with a sprinkling of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick, sit back, relax and enjoy this warming smoothie.
